As you can see from the cover, in this book I have moved from the desert plains of the Karoo to the lush winelands of the Cape, and a French-heritage wine estate. Long-held traditions and new beginnings jostle side-by-side as the heroine, Fili, grows up in a changed world. Can she seize the future, not just for herself but also for her community? How far should she go? And when she is accused of a crime, can she hold on to her convictions? Yet for how long, she wonders, will I live in this limbo of being neither guilty nor innocent?
